Now that i think about it the similarities are striking.

North Carolina is Florida- Juggernauts

Duke is Alabama- Very solid teams that will win alot of games but have some holes.

Then the rest. Good teams with big question marks. Could suprise people but also could be mediocre. Then a few teams that will just not be very good at all.

I am sticking stricktly to the hockey boards from now on. The baseball, basteball and football forums are just too full of idiots. You cant say anything about anyone or anything without getting your throat ripped out. Today i was told i know nothing about baseball because i have a cricket player as my av. Ok? Way to base that opinion of me on nothing. Ugh what a bunch of idiots.

I wish people would get lives and stop just posting to insult everyone else.

Well everyone i think has come to the same conclusion...

The salary cap sucks.

Well it mostly sucks. About 80% suck.

I suppose i will start off with why i think it is beneficial: It keeps alot of smaller teams in contention. Teams with huge salaries cannot monopolize star players like they used to (see my beloved Red Wings circa 02). It makes owners feel nice that they arent burdoned with the spend too much and you might get in financial trouble or spend to little and piss off your fanbase issues.

Just a few notes...

Looks like the Coyotes will be in AZ for another season at least. I hope this whole saga opens up the Arizona faithful that they need to support this team. Much like Pittsburgh when the Penguins were in trouble a few years back.

Also game 7 had the highest rating in many many many years. I am so happy to hear that. It seems like the past couple of years the NHL has been touting the "highest ratings since 2002" BS. Yeah well in 2002 the NHL wasnt popular dorks.

And finally I am happy hockey season is so long and takes up 3/4 of the year. Training camp begins in September in my hometown of Traverse City for the Red Wings. I cant wait to see what this offseason brings.

Well congratulations Pittsburgh. You earned this one for sure. It is nice to see a bright young team earn their way to the cup. Yeah i would much rather have the wings win another one but there is always next year.

I have noticed alot of writers pretty much saying the Red Wings lost this series instead of the Penguins winning it. Those kids played their guts out. Nothing more nothing less.

Well time to change my av.

Ugh... What a wasted opportunity. Ozzie stood on his head and the Offense of all things just couldnt come through for him. Really? The Red Wings only goal was scored by Kris Draper? Really? Yikes. Love Drapes as much as the next guy but we have 6 or 7 other forwards that should bowl their way down the ice and shelf the damn puck.

Just brutal. The first period was an amazing display of my hair turning gray.

Maybe i will write more later. The Penguins deserved this win. They wanted it more obviously.

Well to be honest can i really say anything that hasnt already been said?

Great all around effort tonight by the Red Wings. I, like everyone else, was happy to see Pavel back on the ice playing field general. That guy is magic.

Now, on to a darker subject. The Penguins "antics" after going down 2-0 and eventually losing 5-0. It seems like most anti-penguins fans are screaming as loudly and as often as possible about how the Penguins are thugs. While you have the right to your opinions and whatever makes you feel better, i do not agree. They got frustrated and took some cheap penalties. Thats all it was. Happens almost every night in the regular season. A team gets down big and gets mad. Oh well get over it. Noone was hurt. Move on. Both teams are focused on game 6. Noone is thinking about game 5. I promise you. So the sooner everyone gets over all this hate then the better game 6 will be to watch.

Now that games 3 and 4 are in the books here are my thoughts...

This is how it was supposed to happen. Remember people that this is why there is a 2-2-1-1-1 format in the playoffs. You are supposed to maintain home ice advantage. Teams are supposed to win on their home ice.

The Penguins played very well in 3 & 4 and the Red Wings did not play well enough. The Pens got the breaks they were dying for and the break well dried up for the wings. In game 3 i think it was as simple as MAF outplayed Ozzie. In game 4 the Red Wings forgot how to backcheck and play properly positioned defense for a 6 minute span.

The series shifts back to the Joe tomorrow night. Pav will be in the lineup finally. Hopefully this will light a fire under the wings butts and they can get it done.

Okay games one and two are over and done with in the Stanley Cup Finals. As most of you know the Red Wings posted back to back 3-1 wins. I thought i would write out a few of my thoughts about the games and perhaps a bit of a preview.

These games were nothing like last years games. The Penguins played hard and kept up with the red wings. We are lucky that MAF is not on his game. If we had run into a hot goalie the wings would be in some trouble. Both teams have had flashes of brillinace but nothing sustained. Both teams are actually not playing very well. There is not alot of open ice out there to work with for either club. I look for things to open up a little bit once in Pittsburgh since home team gets last change. That will mean the Penguins can get some favorable matchups. I dont know about all of you but i dont want to see the Hudler line go against Malkin.

Please dont suck. I am tired of playing teams with sucky fans. Please dont say that the Red Wings are too old. They are not old. Please dont say they arent physical. They are when they need to be. Please dont say that the Red Wings get all the calls. They dont. Noone does. There is no team in the history of sport that has not been screwed over by the refs at some point. Please dont say all red wings fans are fair weather bandwagon jumpers. Yeah some are but alot of us were drawn in by the greats like Stevie Y and Mr. Hockey. Please dont say that your team is deeper talent wise. Untrue my friends.

I understand we are your biggest rivals. But please be patient with us if we dont agree that youre our most hated team. I dont like your team.
Well it looks like the Wings caught somewhat of a break in the first round. The will be playing the Blue Jackets which means they will not have to travel to the west coast just yet. That is good news. However the Wings have not played briliantly against Columbas this year which is mildly concerning.

I am geeked. Best time of the year for me.

Well lately a few of my posts have been crushed and dismissed because people assume i am a bandwagon fan. So i figured maybe i would try to explain how i became a fan of the teams i root for. We will start out with the one that seems most out of place.

I root for the Atlanta Braves. I live in michigan. doesnt make sense right? Well when i was 7 or so my little league team was called... you guessed it... the braves. immediately i started following baseball with my dads help. He asked who i liked most it was Atlanta. And for a brief period when i was 9 it was a little bit of the expo's because of their cool colored unis. But now i have realized my mistake and i am 100% braves.

The next team is the packers. This one is easy. I was born and raised in the UP. The UP is not lions country. It is packer country. My friends liked the packers so i liked the packers. As i grew older and learned of their history i liked them more and more. Now i try to make it across the lake every year for a game. We will see if it works out this year.

But i can feel the summer breeze. Baseball season kicked off tonight with my Braves ruining the opener for the crappy Phillies. Awesome. Lowe looked strong and will help Hudson out greatly this year. Of course there is a long way to go.

I know being from michigan i should root for the Tigers. Well... i dont want to. Nothing about them has ever appealed to me. Sure they were exciting a couple years ago. Other than that? Meh. Their division is weird though this year. Just about any team could win it. and any team could finish last. There are glaring holes in every teams armor. Will Detroit have any sort of success on the mound? Can their hitters produce runs? We will find out.

Well my rep went up a whole point overnight after i started this thing so i suppose thats good news. On to the days sports.

UM mens basketball lost to Illinois. The Illini have a good squad this year. What made the win even more impressive is they were without their team "leader". Hopefully Michigan has done enough to go dancing.

MSU beat up on Minnesota. No suprises there. MSU is a lock for a 2 seed and a dark horse for a 1. Depends on how the dice fall for that 1 seed. NC will have to lose big tomorrow in the ACC tourney i think as will louisville.

UM mens hockey beat WMU today to take a 1-0 series lead over WMU in a best of 3. I see UM getting to the frozen four this year. If they get a 1 seed in the NCAAs they are almost a lock.

To regain his Superstar status! Haha.

Now i know 90% of the CBSsports site is up in arms about the new policies being implemented. To be honest i didnt much care. Until i was dropped to AS status due to my value plummeting. Why did it die by 65 points? Who knows. I dont care. I just know if i start a blog maybe the rating will improve. At the same time i might be able to waste some valuable time at work. The casino business is far less exciting than you would think.

Tonight i am keeping an eye on the Red Wings game. 28 shots in the first period for detroit and only 2 goals. Why were there 28 shots you may ask. That would be due to the 7 penaties taken by the flames. 3 of which were majors. That shotting % has to improve guys.
